Story

The story of Skylanders Imaginators takes place long ago when the Ancients used a mysterious power known as "Mind Magic" to create everything in Skylands. With it, they conjured into existence anything that they could imagine! However, they soon learned that in the wrong hands, it could be very dangerous, and so they sealed it away so that it could never be misused. After discovering this ancient secret, Kaos has unleashed the power of "Mind Magic" into Skylands once again - and he is using it to create an unstoppable army of Doomlanders, the likes of which have never been seen! Now it's up to Portal Masters to create Skylanders Imaginators from their own imagination and stop Kaos and his evil Doomlanders before it is too late. And to help train them, Eon is sending the greatest mystic warriors of all time - the Senseis!

Characters

For new playable characters there are 20 brand new Skylander Senseis as well as 11 former villains. Along with their element each Sensei will also have a Battle Class from a list of ten: Smasher, Knight, Ninja, Bazooker, Quickshot, Sorcerer, Brawler, Sentinel, Swashbuckler, and Bowslinger.

The first set of characters to be revealed included King Pen, Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Here is a table containing all of the new Skylanders, click the + to see all the known variants:

Senseis

"Sensei" is the collective name for the new set of Skylanders (the villains also function as Senseis), their Battle Class determines the types of attacks and weapons they use as well as which abilities they unlock for your Imaginators. They all have a new type of super attack called Sky-Chi that slowly fills up as you defeat enemies until it reaches a point where you can unleash it on your unsuspecting foes (quite similar to the ability Trap Masters had in the 3DS version of Trap Team).

Owning a Sensei of a particular battle class will unlock a Secret Technique for your Imaginators of the same class. As well as that they will each unlock an item and a weapon for use in customisation. Senseis will also be able to access areas known as "Sensei Elemental Realms".

Creation Crystal

Included in the Starter Pack is a Fire Creation Crystal, this allows you to create and store your very own custom Fire element Skylander. To create a Skylander of a different element you'll need to purchase a Creation Crystal of that element.

Be aware that once you select a Battle Class you can not change it on that Creation Crystal ever again. So choose carefully!

Starter Pack

In the Starter Pack you get the Water Sensei Master King Pen, the Earth Villain Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. The portal included is identical to that of the Swap Force portal (some regions instead have a modified SuperChargers Portal without a trap slot).

There is also once again a Dark Edition of the Starter Pack, it contains three Dark variant Skylanders (King Pen, Golden Queen, and Wolfgang) and three standard Creation Crystals (Fire, Life, and Dark). The pack also comes with a Gold Imaginite Mystery Chest that unlocks some gear for your Imaginators.

And there is a "Crash Edition" that is only available on PlayStation 3 and 4, it has the same contents as the regular Starter Pack plus the Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex toys. The characters will be available in a separately sold Adventure Pack at a later date.

Platforms

The game is only appearing on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U. That means no Wii, 3DS, or Tablet versions this year.

For those who want bad juju or krankenstine or any non-doom raider in the game i'm afraid that that won't happen because if you look at Golden Queen's new Bio it says: Master Eon gave the Golden Queen and the Doom Raiders a choice. So that means that Gulper, Chompy Mage, Chef Pepper Jack, Dreamcatcher and Krankcase will be senseis. Luminous and Nightshade will most likely be back as well because they technically are the light and dark doom raiders. So yeah... no regular villains but before you ask pain-yatta is in because there's no magic doom raider and he's the closest to it.

Sunbun HAS to return for Elite. He's literally the only SSA character who has yet to get any repose of some sort. Not even a Series 2 or Lightcore.

As for the rest...

Magic: smilie
Earth: smilie
Water: smilie
Tech: smilie
Undead: smilie
Air: smilie
Life: smilie

V Oh my god! I totally forgot about those. Now there are even more reasons to be hyped.

I think these will be coming this year:
Life: Camo
Air: Sonic Boom
Undead: Hex
Magic: Double Trouble
Tech: Drobot
Water: Zap
Fire: Sunburn
Earth: Bash

Ok lets get off the arguements of whether crash wil be implamented or who is going to be a villain, has anyone thought about elites or if there will be any this year?

I'm hoping for Elite:
Magic: Double Trouble
Undead: Cynder
Life: Camo
Fire: Sunburn And Ignitor
Water: Wham-Shell
Wind: Lightning rod And Warnado
Earth: Bash
Tech: Drill Sergeant

Wind and fire have two as they missed out last time on an elite.
Infairness I just love the triple stats, and posh looking cases, Ideally I'd love all of them to eventually be elites just for collection purposes.

V Crash is definitely a Brawler or Bazooker.

I think Ember would be voiced be Debi Derryberry, the voice of Coco Bandicoot as well as Jimmy Neutron.

Additionally, if Crash Bandicoot is ever a Sensei, he would be a trainer of the Bazooker Battle Class, because of his trademark Fruit Bazooka.

VVV Calm down, because it's not confirmed yet that this is the case with the crystals. In fact, there's something in the creation menu called the Imaginite Vault, which could very well be for saving your creations.

Confirmed to be NPCs *as well as* playable. We don't know how they'll handle that yet, but we know all older 'landers work.

Skylanders confirmed to be non-playable characters in Imaginators: Spyro, Stealth Elf, Jet-Vac, and Eruptor.

My previous question:
Will I need 3 different water crystals if each kid wants a custom water character? Or, will one water crystal allow us to make multiple custom characters?

zmoibe12's response:
to answer your question you would need three crystals

My new comment:
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! Very, very poor move Activision / Toys For Bob. I mean, do you think your loyal households do not have multiple kids playing these games. I'm apauled at this game decision. It's very sad and crummy of the game makers. I'm gonna buy 3 new characters in each element...the least you could do is let each of my kids make a custom character, per element, with one crystal. (PS, yes, I thought the need for an unnecessary amount of crystals for Trap Team was also ridiculous and we ended up cutting our action figure purchases WAY back compared to previous games.) Activision....would you like to step into the sun? Because you're super shady!
