Story

The story of Skylanders Imaginators takes place long ago when the Ancients used a mysterious power known as "Mind Magic" to create everything in Skylands. With it, they conjured into existence anything that they could imagine! However, they soon learned that in the wrong hands, it could be very dangerous, and so they sealed it away so that it could never be misused. After discovering this ancient secret, Kaos has unleashed the power of "Mind Magic" into Skylands once again - and he is using it to create an unstoppable army of Doomlanders, the likes of which have never been seen! Now it's up to Portal Masters to create Skylanders Imaginators from their own imagination and stop Kaos and his evil Doomlanders before it is too late. And to help train them, Eon is sending the greatest mystic warriors of all time - the Senseis!

Characters

For new playable characters there are 20 brand new Skylander Senseis as well as 11 former villains. Along with their element each Sensei will also have a Battle Class from a list of ten: Smasher, Knight, Ninja, Bazooker, Quickshot, Sorcerer, Brawler, Sentinel, Swashbuckler, and Bowslinger.

The first set of characters to be revealed included King Pen, Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Here is a table containing all of the new Skylanders, click the + to see all the known variants:

Senseis

"Sensei" is the collective name for the new set of Skylanders (the villains also function as Senseis), their Battle Class determines the types of attacks and weapons they use as well as which abilities they unlock for your Imaginators. They all have a new type of super attack called Sky-Chi that slowly fills up as you defeat enemies until it reaches a point where you can unleash it on your unsuspecting foes (quite similar to the ability Trap Masters had in the 3DS version of Trap Team).

Owning a Sensei of a particular battle class will unlock a Secret Technique for your Imaginators of the same class. As well as that they will each unlock an item and a weapon for use in customisation. Senseis will also be able to access areas known as "Sensei Elemental Realms".

Creation Crystal

Included in the Starter Pack is a Fire Creation Crystal, this allows you to create and store your very own custom Fire element Skylander. To create a Skylander of a different element you'll need to purchase a Creation Crystal of that element.

Be aware that once you select a Battle Class you can not change it on that Creation Crystal ever again. So choose carefully!

Starter Pack

In the Starter Pack you get the Water Sensei Master King Pen, the Earth Villain Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. The portal included is identical to that of the Swap Force portal (some regions instead have a modified SuperChargers Portal without a trap slot).

There is also once again a Dark Edition of the Starter Pack, it contains three Dark variant Skylanders (King Pen, Golden Queen, and Wolfgang) and three standard Creation Crystals (Fire, Life, and Dark). The pack also comes with a Gold Imaginite Mystery Chest that unlocks some gear for your Imaginators.

And there is a "Crash Edition" that is only available on PlayStation 3 and 4, it has the same contents as the regular Starter Pack plus the Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex toys. The characters will be available in a separately sold Adventure Pack at a later date.

Platforms

The game is only appearing on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U. That means no Wii, 3DS, or Tablet versions this year.

I don't think that they are going to make anymore games. They will probably still do another season or 2 of academy, but the fact that they didn't have a game last year makes me pretty skeptical that they are going to make one this year.

I kinda have grown out of Skylanders because i found Imaginators not that good as the other games but it was still fun last year. But i was kinda disappointed of the villians that were in Imaginators. Due to the fact that Luminous didn't became a sensei and that some villians that weren't that popular or well loved by most people came back as a sensei. But they changed most of the villians a lot compared to them in Trap Team like their voices and their design are different than normal but only 3 villians swapped elements which i was confused why they swapped elements but i was kinda correct before i saw their gameplay saying that the villians that swapped elements will have like Hood Sickle has Dark based attack for example. I was obsessed with this game in 2011 when i was only a kid and now I lost interest in the game but i still like it but not as much as i used to.

BTW Happy new year everyone!

When I was younger (about three years ago, so not too long ago) I was absolutely obsessed with Skylanders. I had every toy from the first three games, my room was covered in posters, advertisements, rare figures and the cards that used to come with each character. I loved the game and the story and drove my family crazy. I was passionate about Skylanders. I breathed Skylanders.

I joined darkSpyro shortly after Christmas of 2011 - when I opened Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure under the tree and was introduced to the magic of the game. It was nice to have people to talk to about something I enjoyed, because my brothers had no interest in the game and I had very little friends (none of whom knew anything about the franchise). I found a home on dS and found myself spending at least three hours a day on the site. Around the time I discovered Skylanders, I gained a newfound enjoyment in writing during and outside of school, and, at the age of eleven, I decided I was going to be an author. I took my love for Skylanders and my interest in writing and eventually began to write Fan Fiction on the forums. I wrote a lot of forgettable stories, and I wrote some damn near awesome stories. One of those lasted over a hundred chapters and a many, many months.

I don't know why I'm here, to be quite honest. I saw an article about how Skylanders could be finishing its run, and got a little sentimental, because I spent a lot of my childhood following the series. I do not have any interest in the game (after Trap Team, and after the eighth grade, I grew tired of the gimmicks and the prices) but I was curious to see how the site was going. Apparently, it isn't what it was when I joined (or the peak of 2013-14). I figured it would simmer down after the public appeal of Skylanders dropped.

So, in honor of the death of a franchise I loved, I want to say thank you, darkSpyro. Thanks for the fun, the debates and, most importantly, teaching me how to write. I loved every minute I spent on here, even when I was fighting with ZapNorris about stories or forgetting to respond back to 84skylanderdude's comments (I was a busy man). I'm not sticking around, just popping in to say farewell. To all of you I know and to those who I don't, enjoy the game while it lasts. If you wanna write a story, write a story. Replay every game, use every character you have. Because as soon as your interest dies, you'll find yourself with a hole in your life. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it doesn't last long.

...and take advantage of these wicked sales (seriously 50 cents?! WTF?!?) - Luke, aka, uttster13.

I think this is the only year I haven't gotten at least 1 skylander since 2011. My local Gamestop doesn't even HAVE ANY skylanders or adverstisement for them. They said they got DISCONTINUED on Skylanders.

When I said "hadn't even gotten at least one skylander this year" I meant this was the only year I hadn't gotten at least one skylander for Christmas since 2011

Yo merry Chrimbo my dudes and dudettes.

First Christmas without a new Skylanders game, will definitely be saving a lot of money this year.

Went into a GameStop yesterday to find the last bit of Skylander stuff they had shoved up as high as possible in a corner. I'm giving up on it. If stores are literally giving them away, nothing is going to happen

i think they could squeeze out one more game, preferably if the story focuses on the revealing of Spyro's parents

As I said, I think Sky7 is closer than we think.
