"We spent about six months on a variety of different directions with Spyro," says Reiche, "and to Activision's credit, they just kept saying more innovative, do something new, more innovative, and they gave us the time and the budget to really seek out what was our dream."

You can bring your toy to a friend's house to share loot and play with your powerful character, and there will also be arenas included in the game so you can pit your characters against each other in battle. The toys themselves are well sculpted, have bright paint jobs, and look great on display.

There's environmental puzzles to solve and enemies to kill as well as plenty of items to collect. Little trinkets like a hat for your character can increase your strength or other abilities.

As well as new videos from ScrewAttack and GameTrailers.

Now I'm even more exited for this game then I was before. The gameplay looks awesome to me and so do the characters.

I'm still not convinced.

I'm really disappointed with the RPG elements, for starters. The hats are funny, but they give you very minor upgrades. I was looking forward to deep customization. That would of made me kinda want the game. When I seen how numbers appear to tell you how much damage you have dealt with an attack, I was thinking, "Cool, we might have a nice cross between Spyro and Final Fantasy here!". But after seeing what the game looks like, I'm thinking a genric, somewhat clunky action game, with minor RPG elements.

Oh, and the Battle Mode looks like the one in Sonic and the Black Knight...that's not a good thing...

You know, I think I spotted yet another dragonoid character. At about 4:57 in the video where they go into PVP, there's a picture of a sort of leafy, thorny dragon on the screen.

i think the man in the video feels the same way as we do on this, i mean when he asks about it being spyro or just skylanders, he sorta cringes and almost feels that he shouldnt say its fully spyro, he is well aware of the fanbase present and that we should be respected.

They probably aren't showing Spyro as much to get some of the people who keep saying this ruined Spyro to lay off.
I do not blame them. I wish they would go through how it begins more...

Just remember everyone, these peripherals never work in games (Tony Hawk's RIDE) and the fact the core element of the gameplay is not the original (Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts)

They even admitted it in the ScrewAttack interview, when they said bringing your toy with saved data on it to your friends house, is like bringing your Xbox hard drive to your friends house to play CoD with your saved data intact.....this can be done with memory sticks....on any console....

Maybe now people will finally understand my huge gripe with the "toy" concept. It's a pointless gimmick.

With that logic, so is just about every Nintendo system in the past few years. Don't really see you ranting about that. smilie

What about Guitar Hero and Wii Fit? And to a lesser extent, PSMove?

And who really cares if the core element of the gameplay is not the original? Doesn't mean it will suck.

First off, I haven't been ranting about Skylanders. I have calmly been expressing opinions. There is a difference.
Secondly, that's a false statement. The Nintendo consoles gimmicks are not pointless because they are made within the customer's interest, and are usually totally new (or a new take on an existing concept). Skylanders' gimmick is unoriginal, and is made to benefit Activision only.
