Pre-orders for Skylanders SWAP Force at retailers like Toys R Us, Target, Walmart and Best Buy now come with a free Lightcore Hex. Unfortunately it appears you have to wait until you actually get the game in October before you receive the Hex (despite being released in Australia recently).
The game has also now had its release date confirmed by EuroGamer as coming out on the 13th of October in North America, the 18th of October in Europe and the 16th of October in Australia.
It has also been announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but obviously with no release date for the consoles themselves there's also no release date for those versions.

Along with those preorders are some new images of the packs, confirming for the first time exactly which two SWAP Force characters are in the Starter Pack, it's Wash Buckler and Blast Zone along with the "Series 3" equivalent Ninja Stealth Elf.
The 3DS Starter Pack has a completely separate line-up of toys, instead you get a different two SWAP Force characters (currently no names known but they are Undead and Air elements) as well as Volcanic Eruptor. So no duplicates like last time with Cynder and Tree Rex.

Loving this sooooo much! Even the 3DS starter look EPIC might be buying them both on release rather than waiting for a cheap sale for 3DS

Hey Dark, looking at the list on the Swap Force page, I think that only Volcanic Eruptor is a variant and Stealth Elf and Terrafin are just regular S3 characters.

The good thing that Toys For Bob Stole my idea is I'll be holding my own variant in my hand!
At times like this I really regreat, that I live in Poland. They've recently released Giants here (I guess all without Eye Brawl), not to mention that our "official website" is still crawling with SSA. Of course, I will have to burn my cash to order SwapForce games when they're out.
It's so superb, that they are releasing completly different Skylanders on 3DS and other consoles versions. Aside of that, I really like the wind SwapForce Skylander which looks like Parrot (not even close to bug) and the Snake-guy.
What I find disappointing, is the fact they're again releasing a variants of the old Skylanders, which were already heavily reposed during Giants. We had S2 Stealth Elf and Legendary Stealth Elf, not to mention about LC Eruptor and S2 Eruptor. Why they're just giving us a Volcano and Ninja version? They will probably have some alternate skills or paths, not to mention look, but hey... We've already played with them so many times! And it seems there is also another version of Terrafin... :<
They could give more attention to Sunburn or Camo or Ghost Roaster. On some V-log they've mentioned about S2 Sprocket, but it's still only one out of 24 S1 Skylanders (including Giants).
Anyway, I need to save my money again and I still haven't collected all Giants figures. Too bad I cannot preorder things on the pages mentioned abouve.
