It seems like the new Spyro game may have a name at last. Due for release on GBA, PS2, DS, GC and Xbox on the 13th of October 2006, Spyro: Legend is apparently the next game in the Spyro series. And again the game appears to be being developed by yet another new company to the series, this time it's Havas Interactive. This information was found at Gamesarefun.com and emailed to me by Jon.

Also on the find list is a new Crash Bandicoot game, Crash: Boom Bang on the DS due for release at the same time.

I'd say that whether the game will actually get released on all the consoles mentioned is questionable; it's a lot of different versions to manage.

Hum Hum, this is interesting! Havas was originally slated to make a Spyro game for X-Box and PC and Playstation before "Enter the Dragonfly", Havas was to make the first console post-insomniac game. Simply scroll through IGN's archives and find where the game simply entitled "Spyro" was cancelled by Havas. They also seem to have a real lack for a website...I've known about Havas for awhile and tried to track down a web site and what I did find was nothing much at all.

So either this is a rumor and someone has confused the never-finished game by Havas from before with this new game, or Havas was called back to the drawing board either to finish what they started before the release of ETD or make a new idea.

Also, my posts on GameFaqs, NeoSeeker, VU games and Spyro Fans Anonymous were about a game idea for Spyro 6 I had fully developed (script, story, drawings etc.) and planned to send to VU headquarters. It was a lame idea and outlandish, I thought VU might want to make a game out of my ideas but those posts still remain active today for the most part despite my lack of contribution anymore. My point is this...it, my game, was called "Spyro: Legend of Dragonroot". Is there a connection? It seems extremely unlikely, but maybe lazy devlopers picked through those boards and found my ideas. I'm not saying that excitedly either, it HAS happened in movies and games where devlopers went to forums for ideas and stole them, now again I highly, highly doubt that has happened here, if it did though...well...we will see when more news somes out.

Other than that - YAY! A new Spyro already! Hope it is better than AHT (which was great by the way, I liked it as much as Insomniac's Spyro, but there is always room for improvement.)

I said it before SL came out and before AHT came out - I hope this game puts Spyro back on the map and makes him a big name again, I hope it is the best yet and blows away any Spyro-haters! We can only hope...there is no harm in that...

Another update...

Trying to find Havas in google is useless you won't find it and their website www.havasinteractive.com has been down for awhile now. Here are archives of their site:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.havasinteractive.com/

...and here is the post about Havas making the fourth Spyro before Enter the Dragonfly existed, way back August 2000! It was tol be developed for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, and Game Boy Advance.

Here is the article:

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/084/084227p1.html

I also typed in: "Spyro 6/Spyro Six/Spyro Sequel/Spyro A Hero's Tail Sequel/A Hero's Tail Sequel/Spyro:Legend" ... and only fund the same, Spyro 6 is still listed on the same sites with no info. but that title and now "Spyro:Legend" can be found posted as upcoming in October on several different sites!

I have to say I've no idea where they got Havas Interactive from though, it wasn't on any other place I searched that mentioned Spyro: Legend.

I guess there's not much to do than wait. That does seem like a lot of consoles for the game to be on, but who knows.

Of course it's not totally impossible for it to be on that many systems, take The Sims 2 for example; there's a version of that game out on every single console currently available (except the 360).

It was released on the PSP after the launch of the Xbox 360 though... but that wasn't the point anyway.

After a quick check of their source, DVDempire.com, it seems safe to say that Havas Interactive is not the developer. Their entry for Shadow Legacy also puts Havas Interactive as the 'studio' involved, as do quite a few other games such as Crash: Tag Team Racing, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, Caesar IV, Starcraft: Ghost, Crash: Boom Bang and so on.

With Vivendi's history with Havas it's likely this is just a slight mixup on that website. Found by Mozepy, this link about the Havas advertising group shows their history mentioning Vivendi buying and then selling them again.
