Story

The story of Skylanders Imaginators takes place long ago when the Ancients used a mysterious power known as "Mind Magic" to create everything in Skylands. With it, they conjured into existence anything that they could imagine! However, they soon learned that in the wrong hands, it could be very dangerous, and so they sealed it away so that it could never be misused. After discovering this ancient secret, Kaos has unleashed the power of "Mind Magic" into Skylands once again - and he is using it to create an unstoppable army of Doomlanders, the likes of which have never been seen! Now it's up to Portal Masters to create Skylanders Imaginators from their own imagination and stop Kaos and his evil Doomlanders before it is too late. And to help train them, Eon is sending the greatest mystic warriors of all time - the Senseis!

Characters

For new playable characters there are 20 brand new Skylander Senseis as well as 11 former villains. Along with their element each Sensei will also have a Battle Class from a list of ten: Smasher, Knight, Ninja, Bazooker, Quickshot, Sorcerer, Brawler, Sentinel, Swashbuckler, and Bowslinger.

The first set of characters to be revealed included King Pen, Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Here is a table containing all of the new Skylanders, click the + to see all the known variants:

Senseis

"Sensei" is the collective name for the new set of Skylanders (the villains also function as Senseis), their Battle Class determines the types of attacks and weapons they use as well as which abilities they unlock for your Imaginators. They all have a new type of super attack called Sky-Chi that slowly fills up as you defeat enemies until it reaches a point where you can unleash it on your unsuspecting foes (quite similar to the ability Trap Masters had in the 3DS version of Trap Team).

Owning a Sensei of a particular battle class will unlock a Secret Technique for your Imaginators of the same class. As well as that they will each unlock an item and a weapon for use in customisation. Senseis will also be able to access areas known as "Sensei Elemental Realms".

Creation Crystal

Included in the Starter Pack is a Fire Creation Crystal, this allows you to create and store your very own custom Fire element Skylander. To create a Skylander of a different element you'll need to purchase a Creation Crystal of that element.

Be aware that once you select a Battle Class you can not change it on that Creation Crystal ever again. So choose carefully!

Starter Pack

In the Starter Pack you get the Water Sensei Master King Pen, the Earth Villain Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. The portal included is identical to that of the Swap Force portal (some regions instead have a modified SuperChargers Portal without a trap slot).

There is also once again a Dark Edition of the Starter Pack, it contains three Dark variant Skylanders (King Pen, Golden Queen, and Wolfgang) and three standard Creation Crystals (Fire, Life, and Dark). The pack also comes with a Gold Imaginite Mystery Chest that unlocks some gear for your Imaginators.

And there is a "Crash Edition" that is only available on PlayStation 3 and 4, it has the same contents as the regular Starter Pack plus the Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex toys. The characters will be available in a separately sold Adventure Pack at a later date.

Platforms

The game is only appearing on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U. That means no Wii, 3DS, or Tablet versions this year.

V If i could shake your hand i would.

I've been saying that for a while and it's nice to see the SI finally has a new character roster.

V True though the giants were lacking now looking back on it, I'm just honestly glad there isn't another spyro or gill grunt

V They like to keep things interesting.

That's why there's been a different concept each game.

SSA - Toys to life
SG - Larger more powerful characters
SSF - Interchangeable characters
STT - Playable enemies
SSC - Modifiable vehicles
SI - Create your own Skylanders

I personally think they've done well with each concept.

They'll never please everyone, so the ones that don't like it generally skip over a game.

V Agreed but will depend on how well this concept is executed, for all we know the character creation maybe a complete flop.

Though I do like the sensei idea

How on Earth will VV be able to follow this up?

V Even if players can make their own character that doesn't take anything away from new characters.

Everyone will have one that appeals to them.

This game should be interesting but my concern is where do they go from here?

The idea of all the differant skylanders (besides profit) was so that kids/players had choice on who their favirote skylander was but what happens when their favirote is not made by activision?

I'm not saying its a bad idea but allowing players to create their own on this game will need to be forwarded on to the next game, but then why buy the newest characters? or they could do a 180 and remove them from the next like villains. I fear this maybe a nail in the coffin...

VV I love them, too. I hope they make another storage box for crystals, because the Trap Team one was really awesome.

1.I don't know what you mean by 8 nintendo toys, i'm assuming you mean Bowser and DK and if you are talking about the two of them then they can only be played on the WII U. If you really like playing with Bowser and DK then buy the Wii U version, if you don't really like them buy the Xbox One version, you can still use Bowser and DK as amiibos.
2.You use creation crystals to create Imaginators, Sensei Skylanders train Imaginators by increasing their max level cap and teaching them new moves.
The only thing they have in common is that they both have classes.
3.20 Sensei Skylanders, 10 elements, 2 Senseis per element. 11 Villains, 10 elements, 1 villain per element + i'm guessing Kaos
4.Each elemental crystal has a different design (all life crystals have a jade design, all fire crystals have a flame design)
5.The reason people are excited about the NPC's is because skylanders are going to be NPC's. Like in the demo level we saw Jet-Vac is an NPC that helps you through the level, other skylanders are going to be NPC's as well.

V I bet Power A will release a storage box like they did with the Traps.

VVV We only really need one per element to be fair.

Is there going to be anything to store them in or are they just going to left loose?

V I think they'll do her like Warnado, with, instead of a tornado, they'll be swirling clouds, kinda like this:

Like the ones under her.

Hey, it's been YEARS since I last logged on. I have just a few questions about this new game:
1. I'm struggling whether I want this game on the Wii U or the Xbox One. I've been playing every Skylander game on it (except for the first two) and it's the only platform that allows the 8 nintendo toys to be played on. However, I feel like I hardly have any Xbox One games at all, and that I rarely use it. Does anyone know if the Nintendo toys are going to be compatible with the Wii U game, and if not, what platform should I get it on.
2. Are the Senseis and Imaginators two different things?
3. So there's 20 new Sensei characters and 11 villains. I can guess how it's arranged (1 Light, 1 Dark, 2 per other element). But I don't know how the 11 villains work, as there are only ten elements. Also, I only know of 9 villains who are likely to be in this game. What are the other 2?
4. Is there only 1 Creation Crystal per element? It's totally fine if there is.
5. Why would anyone look forward to the NPC's? They're insanely annoying and often bring to game to a slow pace, most of all Cali.
If anyone can answer these questions (or at least the first 4), thanks in advance.

Welp, I guess 1 trap per element has now been confirmed. The Life Trap in the Dark Starter Pack has changed to match the one on the poster.
